Indoor air quality is important.  We spend a lot of time in our offices and homes, and we need to have good quality air, free of contaminants like dust, dander, mold spores and other contaminants. Volatile organic compounds can also affect the air quality.  These are compounds that come from manufacturing items such as carpet, flooring  and furniture. That “new carpet smell” is a volatile organic comound, or VOC. “Volatile” means they will eventually evaporate, but can be problematic when the materials are first installed.

Make sure you change or clean your AC filter at least once per month.  Dust using a damp cloth instead of a dry one, the damp cloth will collect more dust and won’t let it get into the air.

Another great way to keep the air in your home clean and fresh is to hire a professional carpet cleaning company at least once per year to perform carpet cleaning, area rug cleaning and upholstery cleaning for you to remove the dust and other allergens from the fabrics.
